MARINE ENGINEERING

As the name Propulsion Data Services would indicate, marine engineering with a focus on  propulsion systems is a core service.

Many naval architectural firms and shipyard design departments use PDS's services to examine their  propulsion and mechanical systems for possible design flaws and for optimization.

PDS does many re power projects primarily for shipyards and end users. Re power projects typically include all system analysis requirements, installation drawings and equipment specifications, documentation as required by any government entities or classification societies, yard inspections and sea trials.

PDS has extensive working knowledge of the full range of engines, gears, propulsors and auxiliary equipment. Engine knowledge ranges from small high speed engines to large low speed heavy fuel, gas turbines, diesel electric and hybrid. Propulsors range from open propeller, ducted propeller, surface piercing and water jet to paddle wheel and sail.

Typical Marine Engineering Services

Optimization of drive lines for propulsive efficiency including
modeling and simulation

Shaft rate and blade rate whirl analysis

Shaft line lateral and axial vibration analysis

System torsional analysis

Shaft alignment optimization

Foundation structural and modal (vibration) analysis

Appendage optimization and design

Auxiliary systems design such as steering, cooling, exhaust, ventilation, piping, electrical systems etc.

Stability updates per weight and performance changes
